American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Issues Warning Against...

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) September 25, 2013

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery released an article on September 9, 2013 in which they warn consumers about the risks of buying into online promotions for non-invasive cosmetic procedures. With online promotion websites like Groupon and Living Social increasing in popularity, the society cautions against purchasing deals for procedures like Botox, laser treatments, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion. San Diego cosmetic dermatologist Kimberly J. Butterwick, MD, seconds their opinion.

“This is a great reminder to consumers everywhere that non-invasive skin care treatments are not to be taken lightly. Yes, they are safe and have proven very effective, but only when performed by a licensed, experienced medical professional,” said Dr. Butterwick, board-certified dermatologist at Goldman, Butterwick, Fitzpatrick, Groff & Fabi Cosmetic Laser Dermatology in San Diego.

The article lists several important questions that potential patients should ask about the cosmetic treatment facility, about the medical personnel supervising the procedures, about the risk of the procedures, and about the knowledge and experience of the provider before undergoing treatment. Bottom line: consumers need to do their research before buying into a bargain when it comes to any type of medical procedure.

“I understand that cost is an important factor when a patient is seeking a cosmetic treatment, but because all medical treatment involves some risk, no one can really afford to make cost the only factor. Treatments like Botox injections and chemical peels can have some pretty serious side effects when not performed properly, so you have to ask yourself if it is worth the risk to save a little money,” explained Dr. Kimberly Butterwick.

Dr. Butterwick is a world-renowned, board-certified dermatologist in San Diego who has worked with major medical companies in developing and testing some of today’s most popular skincare treatments and cosmetic procedures. Known in the dermatology community as an “expert injector,” Dr. Butterwick knows first-hand the extensive training necessary to perform successful non-invasive cosmetic treatments.

“Many people think that procedures that don’t involve incisions can be performed anywhere, such as a med-spa or salon. While many salons and spas are offering these procedures, it is not the safest option. Visit a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to ensure you receive the safest, most effective treatment,” said Dr. Butterwick of San Diego’s Cosmetic Laser Dermatology.

Having served on the board for the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and current co-chair of this year’s annual meeting, Dr. Butterwick is uniquely aware of the hundreds of hours cosmetic dermatologists devote to becoming experts in their field. Dr. Butterwick has served as course director and lecturer at many regional educational workshops and is a current member of advisory boards for Allergan, Valeant and Merz, the makers of top dermal fillers Juvederm, Radiesse, Restylane and Sculptra as well as Botox Cosmetic and other neuromodulators. Aside from her unique and specialized knowledge of injectables, Dr. Butterwick is considered a leading authority on laser treatments, tumescent liposculpture and minimally invasive body contouring procedures.

Top Beverly Hills Facial Plastic Surgeon Responds to Julie Chen’s...

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) September 26, 2013

On Wednesday, September 11, 2013, talk show host Julie Chen revealed on The Talk that she underwent surgery 20 years ago to widen her “Asian eyes.” An act that she kept private until now, the surgery was advised by agents and employers in the news industry. Beverly Hills facial plastic surgeon Babak Azizzadeh, MD, FACS, says ?that no matter what a patient's reasons are for undergoing surgery, it is up to the surgeon to make sure the patient looks natural and appropriate for his/her ethnicity.

"?I?t is common to encounter patients who want to look more mainstream, or embody a certain characteristic that’s popular at the moment. It is the job of the surgeon to make sure the surgery is done in a manner that respects ethnic characteristics,” said Dr. Azizzadeh. Chen claims that a former employer told her she would never be a TV anchor because the city didn’t have a large Asian community; therefore, the community wouldn’t be able to relate to her. After much contemplation, she decided that undergoing surgery to make her eyes bigger would be the best move for her career.

“It is never an easy decision for someone to change or alter an ethnic characteristic. What's important, though, is that they seek surgical treatment from a plastic surgeon experienced in ethnic facial plastic surgery. Julie Chen’s surgery was obviously done very well, as ethnic characteristics were preserved, and, without looking at a before picture, you cannot tell she had any work done,” said Dr. Azizzadeh, facial plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills.

Dr. Babak Azizzadeh is a world-renowned facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon known for his natural-looking results. He commonly performs the procedure Julie Chen had, known as Asian blepharoplasty. Asian blepharoplasty is an eyelid surgery in which the surgeon creates a crease in the upper eyelid to create a double eyelid fold, which also widens the appearance of the eyes.

“Asian blepharoplasty is usually an outpatient procedure that only requires a couple days of downtime before the patient can return to work. When done by an experienced facial plastic surgeon, the Asian blepharoplasty can produce a subtle, natural-looking result,” explained Dr. Azizzadeh.

Dr. Azizzadeh is a facial plastic surgery expert, recognized as a Top Doctor by the US News & World Report. He completed a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the prestigious Harvard Medical School, and is the author of five bestselling books, including “Master Techniques in Facial Rejuvenation” and “Beverly Hills Beauty Secrets.” Dr. Azizzadeh is also the director of the USC Facial Plastic Fellowship Program, and the director of the world renowned Cedars-Sinai Advances in Multispecialty Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery Symposium.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) September 25, 2013

A recent article released this month by allergicliving.com shared information from contributing physicians on what items parents with children experiencing eczema should avoid. As the article was mostly targeted towards curing and preventing children’s eczema, may helpful tips were discussed for those suffering from the condition, no matter what age. As a leader in natural skin care solutions, Probiotic Action, formerly known as the best acne treatment, offers new skincare tips for those with eczema following, on how to prevent breakouts, what allergic reaction causing items to avoid, and new treatment options.

Most skincare experts will agree that each case of eczema varies from one individual to the next, for those suffering from skin irritation, or eczema, breakout triggers are normally found in everyday products. Recently, Probiotic Action gathered information on which everyday items may be causing skin irritation, and is now offering a treatment solution regardless of the severity of one’s condition. Adult Acne Treatment, Probiotic Action Shares New Information on How...

Miami, FL (PRWEB) September 27, 2013

A recent article by the mankatofreepress.com shared insight on how Kefir is being seen as a stronger probiotic product than yogurt, and how it helps promote the growth of probiotics in the body system. As the article stated, Kefir, being a liquid is, not only digested quicker, but contains three times more probiotics strains than most yogurts. As a leader in probiotic awareness and education, Probiotic Action, best known for their adult acne treatment shares how drinking Kefir may help aid in the reduction of breakouts, and promoting probiotic growth in the body.

Those suffering with acne are often told that milk based products and dairy will contribute to acne flare ups. As a fermented milk product, items like yogurt and Kefir, have the reverse effect. As probiotics are needed to combat the P.acnes bacteria known to cause breakouts, probiotic based products help in the digestion of enzymes in milk products and other foods, which contribute to the production of acne causing oil, and feed the P.acnes bacteria. Aside from the digestive aids, The PA team offers that the probiotics in a liquid form, will enter the body system faster, and if low in sugar, may help supplement a topical probiotic better than probiotics in pill form.

“Every body will need a different amount of probiotics to help supplement their acne treatment,” says Probiotic Action spokesman Fernando Perez. “Drinking Kefir may work better for some than others, but is worth a try to gain a better mix of probiotics. If one is using a probiotic beverage to help supplement our adult acne treatment, make sure that the product has a low amount of sugar- consuming high amounts of sugar will only feed the bad bacteria causing flare ups,” added Perez.

For further insight on benefits of probiotics, why they are known as “the best acne treatment”, and information on using probiotics for acne, visit ProbioticAction.com. To stay in touch with Probiotic Action as they offer new products, like them on Facebook for reviews and product updates.

Glenwood Springs, CO (PRWEB) September 25, 2013

Spa of the Rockies has upgraded its inventory of skincare offerings with the addition of the new HydraFacial™ technology. Because it is so effective and requires minimal downtime, HydraFacial™ is a favorite pre-event treatment in the film industry, as well as a skincare technology used by notable dermatologists. Beginning in late September, it will be available at Spa of the Rockies at Glenwood Hot Springs.

“The HydraFacial™ provides Spa of the Rockies with the capability to address most major skincare concerns – acne, signs of aging and sun damage – without downtime,” said Spa of the Rockies spa director David Erlich. “We were drawn to HydraFacial™ because it aligns with our philosophy – noninvasive treatments that are highly effective and results driven.”

Suitable for all skin types, HydraFacial™ treatments are designed to nourish and moisturize the skin, leaving it soft, supple and hydrated. Treatments specifically target skin issues including sun damage, blackheads, whiteheads, enlarged pores, brown spots, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles. Each treatment uses a specially designed delivery system called Vortex-Fusion™ that exfoliates the skin several times with each pass, achieving better, more even results. The patent-pending spiral design creates a vortex effect to easily dislodge and remove impurities and introduces hydrating skin solutions, including potent antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid.

During a treatment, trained Spa of the Rockies estheticians provide deep cleansing to remove dead skin cells and reveal the healthy skin beneath. Next, clients receive a gentle acid peel to loosen dirt and debris from pores without irritation. Extractions are quick, painless and automated. Hydration, when nourishing antioxidants and anti-aging hyaluronic acid are applied, is the last step of treatment. Clients are encouraged to extend the benefits of their HydraFacial™ through the use of at-home daily care solutions, which will be available for sale in the Spa of the Rockies boutique.

The new equipment also comes with LED light therapy capabilities that can be administered post-treatment. Red LED light is used to improve the appearance of skin firmness and resilience; it also helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and other signs of aging.
